在介紹之前，我先稍微解釋一下我做的一些改變。最近比較少像之前這樣發主題是的音樂週，因為有時候只是單純想向大家分享一首歌。因此以後要找網誌背景音樂的主題和介紹時，不再是看音樂週，而是看「＊」，請從旁邊的最新文章選取最近的一個＊
好，回到正題來。加拿大可以說是音樂才女輩出，從許久前的瓊妮蜜雪兒（Joni Mitchell）、今天要介紹的莎拉克勞克蘭（Sarah McLachlan），到年輕的仙妮亞唐恩（Shania Twain），為西洋流行音樂界添增不少色彩。
莎拉在２１歲那年發行第一張個人專輯，其中詞曲全是個人創作，並突破金唱片銷售量，蟬聯數周冠軍，自此獲得肯定。從第一張專輯起，莎拉就成為新女性主義的代言人，而她也在多年醞釀之後，於１９９７年夏天舉辦了公益性的大型女歌手音樂演唱會。這個以亞當前妻Lilith之名所創辦的Lilith Fair，中文一般翻做莉莉斯音樂「節」，因為是一個長達八週，堪稱史上最大的音樂盛會，許多知名女歌手、團體都有參與，我所知道（那應該就有名的）的就有蘇珊薇格（Suzanne Vega）、雪瑞兒可洛（Sheryl Crow，入圍2007葛萊美獎）、珠兒（Jewel），看來其中似乎也是以創作歌手為主。
１９９８年的葛萊美獎，莎拉以莉莉絲音樂節創辦當年發行的專輯Surfacing和其中歌曲，一舉奪下三座葛萊美大獎（最佳專輯、最佳歌曲Last Dance和最佳女歌手），主打單曲Building Mystery也打入美國告示牌（Billboard）排行榜冠軍，堪稱她最為成功的一張專輯。
莎拉的歌聲富強烈感情、略帶沙啞，聽她的音樂就好像環繞在她的世界當中，再加上優柔的旋律、合宜的伴奏、絕美的歌詞，讓她的音樂動人至極。
